Our Story and Successes

A Problem Worth Solving

Financial decisions shape young people’s futures, yet accessible financial education remains out of reach for many. We began Wealth Wizards with a simple conviction: learning about money should feel empowering, practical, and engaging. Rather than starting with a product, we started with the challenge—helping young people build the confidence to make informed financial choices.

Turning an Idea into Play

We spent more than 1,000 hours developing game mechanics, hand-drawn artwork, and a learning experience where playtime becomes learning time. Simulations helped us refine the balance between challenge and enjoyment, while The Book of Wealth and our digital Questionbank added clear, practical guidance to every game. Wealth Wizards was taking shape as more than a board game: it was a gateway to financial confidence.

Testing, Listening, Improving

Before launch, we placed a prototype in the hands of real players. More than 25 groups across four age demographics tested the game and shared direct feedback. We listened closely, focusing not on telling people how the experience should work, but on understanding what would make it intuitive, enjoyable, and genuinely useful. Their insight became the foundation for our next stage of growth.

A Breakthrough at Kai Tak

At the JA HK pop-up at Kai Tak, Wealth Wizards sold out 100 copies in two days. Families experienced the game first-hand, while our mascot brought energy and curiosity to the stall. We were honoured to receive first runner-up for Best Offering and the Social Buzz Award—but the feedback we received was equally valuable. It showed us where we could make an even greater difference.

Designing for Greater Access

We responded quickly by introducing a bilingual edition and creating Wealth Wizzies, a simpler, jargon-free card game for younger and less financially confident learners. Sold at break-even prices through charity partners, Wealth Wizzies makes foundational learning more accessible. We also upgraded the flagship board game with improved components, clearer physical manuals, and more efficient packaging—raising quality while reducing unit costs.

Taking Learning Beyond the Board

Our mission could not stop at selling a product. Through eight pilot workshops with ESF primary schools, we brought hands-on financial learning to more than 200 students. We also began developing relationships with corporate partners to explore workshop opportunities for young people and interns. These sessions connect budgeting, investing, and decision-making to everyday situations—turning financial literacy into an experience learners can use beyond the game.
